Where can I submit my story?

What are the submission criteria?

To be eligible, each entrant must be 21 years old, must submit a true story about his/herself or a minor child for whom the entrant is the parent or legal guardian (not another family member, or other person), that occurred after 01/01/2014, and must be insured continuously by a BCBS company(ies) during 01/17/19 up to and including 05/31/2019. A complete submission will include a short description of the entrant’s Faces of Fearless story and the accompanying photo or video should meet the Award criteria (described in the Official Rules), which are:

The submission summary should be approximately 300 words. The electronic form and required legal releases must be completely filled out, including name, phone number, email address and agreement to the terms and conditions.

I submitted a story last year. Can I enter again?

Yes. Each entrant can submit one (1) story, provided that the entry meets the submission criteria.

Can my BCBS company submit a Faces of Fearless story on my behalf?

No. The BCBS member must submit their own story (or that of a minor child for whom the entrant is the parent or legal guardian) on the Faces of Fearless page and enter the appropriate information.

How are the winners chosen?

The winner(s) will be chosen based on the two criteria listed in the Official Rules and will be evaluated by a panel of judges. The required legal release and accompanying form must be filled out completely in order to be eligible in the program. The full judging process is outlined in the Faces of Fearless Award Official Rules.

Why do I need to sign a legal release?

Signed releases give Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) and BCBS companies permission to use the entrant’s likeness, name and narrative. The entrant’s likeness, name and narrative may be used in a variety of ways, including use on social networks, websites and other digital platforms. The HIPAA release gives BCBSA permission to talk to the individual member’s own BCBS company if any follow-up is needed regarding the story they submit.

Can I submit photos of anyone in my family?

The photos and videos submitted should focus on the story about the entrant (or the entrant’s minor child for whom they are the parent or legal guardian of), and therefore, the entrant should be the focus of any images or videos.

Are BCBSA and BCBS company employees eligible to enter the program and win the trip?

No. Persons employed by BCSBA or any BCBS company or its affiliate companies and their immediate family and household members are not eligible to enter the program. “Immediate family members” shall mean parents, stepparents, children, stepchildren, siblings, stepsiblings, or spouses, regardless of where they live. “Household members” shall mean people who share the same residence at least three months a year, whether related or not.
